Saturday, September 21: Concepts in Varroa Management
Varroa continues to be the number one problem for beekeepers. In Randy Oliver’s operation, he has successfully managed Varroa mites, without the use of synthetic miticides, since 2001. He’s tried most every control option, and will share what he’s found to work (including selective breeding). An effective mite management plan must be based upon the understanding of the biology of the mite. Randy will present important biological concepts to help beekeepers plan effective mite management strategies tailored to their own operations.
